She is committed to developing marketing campaigns that educate organisations on the benefits of psychological safety, employee wellbeing and data driven decision making in the workplace.

Understanding the market before marketing the product

Launching a new product into any market is a challenge, but introducing workplace wellbeing software requires more than simply promoting software; it requires changing the way organisations think about employee health. As a Project Marketing Associate working on the launch of the iProtectU Wellbeing Platform, my role has been to understand not only what the product does, but also who it is for, the problems it solves and how to communicate its value in an increasingly competitive employee wellbeing software market.

The iProtectU Wellbeing Platform has been developed as wellbeing software that helps organisations manage physical and mental health within the workplace through wellbeing assessments, stress risk assessment, psychosocial risk assessments and psychological safety management. Built around the principles of ISO 45003, the platform provides employers with a structured process for workplace wellbeing, identifying psychosocial hazards, assessing risk and taking meaningful action as part of occupational health and safety management.

As this is a new product launch, one of my biggest responsibilities has been developing a marketing strategy that positions the platform not simply as another employee wellbeing survey, but as a complete workplace wellbeing management solution that complements wider health and safety software.

One of the first lessons I learned was that successful marketing starts with understanding the market rather than the product.

The workplace wellbeing and employee wellbeing software sector has grown significantly over recent years. Many organisations already invest in employee assistance programmes, wellbeing apps or annual engagement surveys. However, during my research I identified an important gap in the market.

Many existing solutions collect information but stop there.

Employers often receive reports that identify issues such as stress, burnout, workload pressures and other psychosocial hazards, but they are given very little support in managing those findings or demonstrating continual improvement. This creates a disconnect between employee feedback, psychosocial risk management and organisational action.

The iProtectU platform addresses this gap by combining wellbeing risk assessment, stress risk assessment, psychological safety, pulse checks, action planning, dashboards and management reporting within a single workflow. Rather than producing standalone reports, the psychosocial risk assessment software enables organisations to identify psychosocial risks, assign actions, monitor progress and continually review improvements.

Recognising this market opportunity became central to the marketing strategy. Instead of selling another wellbeing questionnaire, we are introducing wellbeing software that enables organisations to actively manage workplace wellbeing and employee wellbeing.

Defining the target audience

One of the most important parts of my role has been identifying exactly who the product is designed for.

Although employees complete assessments, they are not the primary purchasing audience.

The decision makers are organisations that have responsibility for protecting workforce health and wellbeing through occupational health and safety, HR, compliance and leadership processes.

Our primary audiences include:

  • Human Resources professionals
  • Health and Safety Managers
  • Occupational Health teams
  • Wellbeing Managers
  • Compliance professionals
  • Senior Leadership Teams
  • Directors responsible for employee wellbeing and organisational culture

The platform guidance itself identifies administrators, HR professionals, managers, senior leaders and assessors as the key users responsible for coordinating consultation, training, assessments and management review.

This meant that our marketing messages needed to speak to business decision makers rather than individual employees.

Instead of asking, “How will this help me?”, our audience asks:

  • How will this reduce organisational risk?
  • How will this improve employee wellbeing?
  • Can this demonstrate compliance?
  • Will this provide evidence for management reviews?
  • Is employee information kept confidential?

Answering these questions became a key part of the product positioning.

Creating a value proposition

Another important aspect of launching a new product is creating a clear value proposition.

Rather than focusing purely on software features, I wanted to communicate the outcomes employers could achieve.

The key marketing messages became:

  • Protect both physical and mental health in the workplace.
  • Identify workplace stress before it escalates.
  • Manage psychosocial hazards and psychosocial risks proactively.
  • Improve employee engagement through regular consultation.
  • Support organisational alignment with ISO 45003 and wider occupational health and safety processes.
  • Turn assessment results into measurable actions.

This approach shifts the conversation from technology to organisational benefits.

Instead of selling software alone, we are promoting healthier workplaces and a more proactive approach to workplace mental health.

Marketing physical and mental health together

One of the strongest aspects of the iProtectU platform is that it recognises workplace wellbeing as more than workplace mental health alone.

Modern organisations increasingly understand that employee wellbeing includes:

  • Physical health
  • Mental health
  • Psychological safety
  • Workplace culture
  • Stress management
  • Workload balance
  • Employee engagement

Our marketing strategy therefore avoids presenting wellbeing as a single issue.

Instead, we position the platform as helping organisations understand the complete employee experience through wellbeing risk assessment, stress risk assessment, psychosocial risk assessments and confidential individual support where required. The platform supports organisational, team and individual assessments with appropriate confidentiality controls depending on the situation, bringing employee wellbeing software and psychosocial risk management into a structured workflow.

This broader message reflects the evolving expectations of employers who increasingly recognise wellbeing as a strategic business priority.

Building trust through privacy

Marketing a wellbeing platform also means addressing one of the biggest concerns organisations have, which is trust.

Employees will only participate honestly if they know their personal information is protected.

As part of developing the marketing strategy, I recognised that privacy should be positioned as a major selling point rather than a technical feature.

The platform allows organisations to produce aggregated management reports while protecting confidential individual assessment records through permission controlled access.

For employers, this demonstrates good governance.

For employees, it builds confidence that their wellbeing information remains secure.

Launching a new product in a competitive market

Introducing a completely new workplace wellbeing platform requires more than a product launch; it also requires education around psychological safety, psychosocial hazards, workplace mental health and psychosocial risk management.

Many organisations are still unfamiliar with psychosocial risk management, psychosocial risk assessment software and ISO 45003.

Because of this, our marketing strategy focuses heavily on thought leadership and awareness.

Rather than simply advertising features, we aim to educate employers about:

  • Why psychosocial hazards and psychosocial risks matter.
  • The importance of workplace wellbeing, employee wellbeing and workplace mental health.
  • The relationship between wellbeing and organisational performance.
  • The benefits of continuous assessment rather than annual surveys.
  • How structured action planning improves outcomes.

By educating first and selling second, we can build credibility and encourage organisations to view wellbeing as a long term investment rather than a compliance exercise.

Looking ahead

Working on the launch of the iProtectU Wellbeing Platform has shown me that successful marketing is about understanding people just as much as understanding products.

As a Project Marketing Associate, I have learned that identifying the right audience, researching market gaps and developing clear value propositions are all essential when introducing an innovative product.

The launch of this platform represents an opportunity to help employers rethink how they approach workplace wellbeing. Rather than reacting to problems after they occur, organisations can take a proactive approach to managing physical health, workplace mental health, psychological safety and psychosocial risks using a single integrated wellbeing software platform.

For me, this project has reinforced that good marketing is not about selling software; it is about communicating how a product can solve real world problems. By understanding employers’ challenges and clearly demonstrating the benefits of the iProtectU Wellbeing Platform as employee wellbeing software within a broader health and safety software approach, we hope to support organisations in creating safer, healthier and more resilient workplaces for the future.
