Ladders in the Workplace
Ladders can be used in the workplace following the completion of a risk assessment. Ladders can be used for work which is low risk and of short duration. Ladders must be on level ground, stable and where possible secured in place. The user of the ladder should complete a visual pre-use check to identify any defects. The person using the ladder must be competent, demonstrated through practical experience, knowledge and training.
Practical training should be undertaken to ensure the user understands how to use a ladder safely. They should also complete refresher training.
iProtectU software includes risk assessment templates, e-learning courses and toolbox talks for ladder use in the workplace.
