Health and Safety at work legislation requires employers to provide adequate training to ensure, so far as is reasonably practicable, the health and safety of employees at work. This includes the requirement to identify situations where certain employees may have individual training needs, for example new recruits, people changing jobs or taking on extra responsibilities and young employees who are particularly vulnerable to accidents. Health and safety training should be regularly updated to ensure that employees are aware of any new hazards or changes in workplace policies and procedures and that their skills are refreshed.
Effective training will contribute towards increasing your employees’ competence in health and safety, can help your business avoid the distress that accidents and ill health cause and can help you avoid the financial costs of accidents and occupational ill health, such as damaged products, lost production and demotivated staff. Don’t forget that your insurance might not cover all these costs.
Your risk assessment should identify any further training needs associated with specific risks and industry-related hazards.
The iProtectU software is a user-friendly, intuitive one-stop system for your organisation’s safety training needs.
