Students use iProtectU Apps for work experience at Wellington College
Wellington College is one of the UK’s and indeed the world’s great coeducational boarding and day schools.
The College is set in 400 acres of beautiful parkland and is home to a blend of breath-taking original architecture and modern state-of-the-art facilities. The school was founded in 1853 as the living memorial to the Duke of Wellington, described by Queen Victoria as “the greatest man this country has ever produced”.
Wellington College have been using the iProtectU Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) system for several years. On Monday the 24th August, iProtectU work experience students Erin Beck and Oliver De Maria visited the College to learn how our software is used in such an extensive setting.
Health & Safety Induction
Mr Ian Stone, a HSE Manager at Wellington College supervised the visit and demonstrated how important health, safety and environmental considerations are to the college and all that use its facilities. After an initial health and safety induction, both students were provided with access to the iProtectU Audit and Asset Apps, which they used throughout the visit.

Wellington College use every aspect of iProtectU Software
"After logging into the apps, we were taught how to do inspections on vehicles such as buggy cars and audits on boarding houses. The app was easy to follow, and we completed inspections using the template inspection forms. We were able to attach photos to each section or question and leave comments. We submitted the inspection via the APP and then we viewed it in the audit/inspection register.
Wellington College are using every aspect of the iProtectU software, the apps are used by numerous people to perform a wide range of tasks. proactively plan, budget and coordinate the multiple regulatory tasks required to ensure safety. Management information is provided to Ian and the team via dashboards, enabling them to enhance the safety culture through proactive responses.

Mr Stone provided a tour of the extensive college facilities, which included new construction sites to provide an awareness of construction safety and site safety signage. iProtectU, Erin and Oliver are very grateful to Ian Stone and the team at Wellington College for their guidance and for providing us with this incredible opportunity.
A multi sector workplace in terms of safety
”We were given stickers with QR codes, and then Mr Stone instructed us on how to create and register an asset into the app. We went around a boarding house and added a few of the first aid boxes and fire extinguishers into the app. Then, we completed an audit for the fire extinguishers, checking the inspection was in date and following the questions prompted by the app.
It was interesting to see how the software is used in an educational setting such as Wellington College. With such a large facility, the college can almost be regarded as a multi sector workplace in terms of safety. The environment includes manly different areas of health and safety covering legislation for sectors such as facilities, construction, chemical, food, transport etc.
After a delicious lunch with the best college pudding anywhere, we went back to the health and safety office, where Mr Stone showed us how the software is used to record and investigate incidents, near miss and first aid. We also attended a safety meeting to understand how decisions are made. A really valuable experience."
